This is all about windows, light, and views! From low light to full light!
Back in the day, houses were built with less and smaller single-paned windows. Single-paned glass windows, however, weren’t great at heat retention. In fact, larger windows were considered prestigious for those who could afford the extra heating involved, and were a symbol of wealth. With modern technology, however, windows are now double-glazed with vacuum sealed argon gas between the glass, thus solving the problem. For much more extreme weather areas, there are also triple-glazed windows available!
This circa 1800’s house had a window at a landing that was just too small and didn’t illuminate the hallway and staircase. Therefore, GreenRose Design Build removed the small, old, double-hung window and replaced it with a very large new picture window. What was once a dark hallway and stairway has been reinvented with a picture window that is art in and of itself!
