Pantone calls out its 2023 Color of the Year as Viva Magenta—an empowering red that is bold and encourages self-expression!

Plenty of color is in the forecast! We find that using a pop of color (say on one wall) against a white or light room with light or white home decor makes a dramatic and more interesting room. Indeed, homeowners are going big and bold. We will see lots of jewel tones in the coming year: rich vivid indigo blues, jade greens, vibrant oranges, and pinks, and in all shades of them too.

Our work at Hillside Ave, Chatham

For example, here we used Benjamin Moore’s PACIFIC OCEAN BLUE 2055-20, which offers experimentation with a rich, dark blue/green accent to add depth and drama to a space. Whether blue, pink or yellow, we are incorporating color accent walls throughout many of our projects! At the very least, grab some “Viva Magenta” throw pillows to perk up your gray or white sofa to spice things up!

In the kitchen, we used a jewel tone turquoise glass tile installed right up to the ceiling for a very dramatic look.

We also did the first floor powder room in this dramatic but subtle pumpkin bisque color, Sherwin Williams’s Tango SW-6649.

So go for color….the bolder the better!
