Build a ‘Stone Zone’ Into Your

Foundation Garden Plans!

When planning a new garden around the house foundation there’s several good reasons to install a stone border against the foundation walls.

First, it gives you easier access to the plants against the house, particularly if you have a deep garden like this one. Instead of walking through the plants in the front you’ll have a neat path to access these beauties from the back!

It also keeps the plants from growing against the building as well as making it much easier to keep weeds away.

Also, the ground level around any house, garden or not, should always slope away from the foundation! Keep this in mind as you are creating your ‘stone zone’. Doing this helps keep water from ponding against the house and seeping through the foundation into your basement or crawl space!

When planning your new foundation gardens, keep this in mind and have a border of these small river rocks in the plan!  It’s also a very neat look!
